IPOH: State legislative assembly Speaker Datuk R. Ganesan has lodged a police report over the recording and distribution of VCDs allegedly of him involved in a sex scandal in Thailand.

Ganesan, who lodged the report at the police headquarters here at 10am yesterday, urged the police to investigate those behind it.

"I want to stress that any recording and circulation of the VCDs and printouts were done with the intention to shaming and defame me. "I hope the police will investigate the matter thoroughly and exhaust all laws in probing this matter," said Ganesan, who was accompanied by Datuk S. Veerasingam, special adviser to the Perak menteri besar.

In his report, Ganesan said he was approached by newsmen on Friday, informing him that a group of state DAP lawmakers had held a press conference about an envelope two of them received. The two were DAP's Tronoh assemblyman V. Sivakumar and Buntong assemblyman A.N. Sivasubramaniam.

They had allegedly had received the envelopes while the state legislative assembly was under way at 10.30am on Friday. They subsequently lodged a report and handed over the envelopes to the police on the same day.

The envelopes each contained a printout and a VCD, allegedly with a photo of Ganesan and an unknown woman on the cover. The printout, taken from the National Express Malaysia blog, dated July 26, told of an alleged sex scandal involving Ganesan in Thailand.

It read: "Perak assembly Speaker Ganesan's chances of contesting a state seat in the coming 13th general election are probably dashed by the revelation of his 'sexscapade' in Thailand."

Ganesan said he had consulted his group of lawyers and would initiate legal action against those responsible.

Asked if the issue would affect his possible candidacy in the 13th general election, Ganesan said he would leave it to the MIC leadership to decide.

Deputy state police chief Datuk A. Paramasivam confirmed receiving Ganesan's report.
