<!-- end left side bar --> <!-- story content : start --> A THRIVING gambling den operated in the guise of an Internet cafe in Katong Village. When the cops busted it, there were five computers on which gamblers could play jackpot, as well as 26 jackpot machines. Its caretaker Lee Check Seng, 50, was jailed two weeks and fined $10,000 on Monday. A district court heard that on August 31 evening last year, an undercover cop bought $20 worth of credits from the proprietor Low Thiam Guan to gamble on a jackpot machine. Lee was then seen leaving the outlet and when approached by police officers outside, he tried to get rid of two plastic bags full of cash. Altogether, he was carrying more than $6,600 in small bills. The outlet's boss, Low, 53, was jailed a month and fined $10,000 in January for operating an illegal gambling den.
