FRENCH stuntman Alain Robert has been taken into police custody after climbing up the outside of a skyscraper in Sydney's CBD. <!-- google_ad_section_end(name=story_introduction) --> <!-- // .story-intro --> <!-- google_ad_section_start(name=story_body, weight=high) --> Robert, known as the French Spiderman, started to climb the 57-storey Lumiere building on Bathurst Street at 10.30am (AEST).
He completed the climb in about 20 minutes. Cheers rang out as Robert reached the top of the skyscraper and again as he was taken into police custody a short time later. Publicity agent Max Markson said the climb was a wonderful achievement. "He's the best at what he does,'' Mr Markson said.

"I'm sad he's been arrested but hopefully he'll get out soon and we can have some champagne.'' Robert, who tries to draw attention to the problem of global warming, has previously climbed the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur, the Eiffel Tower and the New York Times building.
