1. THE FUNERAL/ WANG JUNJIE/ 23 MIN/ 2009/ PG
Synopsis:
THE FUNERAL is a family drama about how a pair of siblings must come to terms with the joint responsibility of organizing their little brother’s funeral, even if it means struggling with their differences in faith and indifference in each other’s lives.
Director's Bio:
As a theatre actor and crew member for 15 years, Junjie married his acting techniques to his directing approach to produce films that are unconventional. An eye for details is his trademark.
2. STAY/ ER KIA HUI/ 6 MIN/ 2007/ PG
Synopsis:
STAY is inspired by true events of the director’s grandparents. The film seeks to capture the relationship of an old couple through the unspoken sharing of cigarettes and the environment they are living in. Driven by quiet moments, this short film brings you through the life of an old couple, and their last days.
Director's Bio:
As a young director, Er Kia Hui believes in finding new experiences and searching for her own roots to find her true identity. In her films, she seeks to capture her own personal history and translate to her own understanding of life.
3. MY UNDERWEAR MY WORLD/ DANNY LIM/ 16 MIN/ 2009/ PG
Synopsis:
10-year-old Jiale escapes to a fantasy world to fulfill his longing for his lost mother. His father, also struggling with the loss, awkwardly tries to play a more maternal role but is frustrated with his reclusive son. A confrontation and a clumsy accident cause the father and son to view each other in a new light and form a stronger bond than ever.
Director's Bio:
Having been intensively making films and being involved in filmmaking for the past two years, Danny has worked on many different types of projects including short films, TVCs, music videos and documentaries, gaining recognition at various competitions. Danny loves to explore society and culture, then sharing it through his films. One of his achievements was a documentary in the heights of China, Tibet and the conservation of the Tibetan Mastiffs.
4. MAN IN A SNOW GLOBE/ KOO CHIA MENG/ 16 MIN/ 2009/ PG
Synopsis:
A memory transfer technology prepares Kelvin for an operation that would cure his blindness. With one implanted memory, he searches for Julianna, who disappears without a trace after his surgery. However, seeing isn’t always believing in Kelvin’s futile journey in the sighted world.
Director's Bio:
Chia Meng is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Digital Filmmaking in NTU. MAN IN A SNOW GLOBE is his second short film.
5. NO RIGHT TURN/ JASON JOSEPH/ 4 MIN/ 2009/ PG
Synopsis:
No Right Turn follows the adventures of Miss Zhuo who has a severe disability. No Right Turn is a tongue in cheek, peek into the lives of those around us who suffer from unique oddities, and asks us what is our own disability? The film was conceived in 30mins and production lasted 24hrs.
Director's Bio:
Pandan Productions draws its talent from a vast field of film fanatics. From an aspiring gardener to a sword collector to a voluntary narcoleptic, Pandan Productions aims to deliver un-artistic commercially viable films.
