On Sunday, the fasting month of Muslims began. They are not allowed to drink or eat in daylight for 30 days. In a comprehensive school in the greater Frankfurt area, two teachers have now forbidden the fifth graders to drink in class – out of consideration for Muslim classmates who fast.
Under shining crescents and with Allahu Acar's calls, Frankfurt's Muslims started Ramadan on Sunday evening in the city centre. On the occasion of the beginning of the fasting month, the city had organized lighting, which was put into operation in the evening.

After sunset, fasting is broken, Muslims are only allowed to eat and drink again.
The father continued: “We found this announcement strange. On the one hand, the children in the fifth grade are between 10 and 11 years old. Even for religious Muslims, however, the fasting command only applies from the age of 14. And: That 24 children of three children should be considered, with basic physical necessities – that is already a funny procedure.”
He and his wife had given to the daughter that she should drink when she was thirsty.

A father reports
NIUS spoke with a father whose daughter goes to the said class. He says, "At dinner we always talk about how the day was. I asked my daughter what's new at school. She then told us that two teachers had forbidden the students to drink in class, as three of the 27 children fast.”After sunset, fasting is broken, Muslims are only allowed to eat and drink again.
Normally children are allowed to drink in class
Normally, the father explains, the children have their water bottles on the table and are likely to drink in class if they were thirsty. “They can always fill up their bottles on the hallway outside, there’s a water dispenser.”The father continued: “We found this announcement strange.
