In an email addressed to the Paul Eluard high school, an individual said he had placed a bomb in the establishment. Across France, other high schools have been the targets of similar threats.
Students from the Paul Eluard high school in Saint-Denis were evacuated this Tuesday morning due to a bomb threat, Le Figaro learned from consistent police sources. The day before, the establishment had already been targeted by threats which, however, had no effect. In an email addressed to this high school, the author indicates that he “planted a bomb in the establishment,” and that he “will come and exterminate all the kuffars with [his] Kalashnikov from Yemen.” The photo of a firearm was attached to this writing, which Le Figaro was able to consult.
This Tuesday, these threats were taken very seriously. “Following this bomb threat, a survey was carried out by specialized dogs. Another school located near the high school was also evacuated as a security measure,” specifies a police source. At noon this Tuesday, the measures was set to be lifted and the students had to return to their high school. The judicial police sub-directorate (SDPJ) was contacted for death threats.
This establishment was not the only one targeted by threats at the start of the week. In Yvelines, the Charles-de-Gaulle high school in Poissy was also evacuated after a bomb threat, a police source tells us. In Seine-Maritime, six educational establishments were also evacuated following “messages threatening to commit attacks” sent “in the morning by email to the management of the establishments,” the prefecture said in a press release. These are the Grieu trades high school in Rouen, the Gustave-Flaubert high school in Rouen, the Fontenelle college in Rouen, the Marcel-Sembat high school in Sotteville-lès-Rouen, the Fernand-Léger high school in Grand-Couronne and the CFA Simone-Veil in Rouen, lists AFP.
“No threat has been confirmed at this stage. However, it was decided in close collaboration between the Normandy rectorate and the management of the departmental services of National Education of Seine-Maritime to evacuate the educational establishments concerned, in order to allow the national police to initiate a protocol of removal of doubt,” added the prefecture. An investigation was opened by the Rouen public prosecutor, she said.
In Tarbes in the Hautes-Pyrénées, some 1,400 students from the Marie-Curie high school were evacuated and regrouped in the Maurice-Trélut stadium following an email threatening an attack addressed to the principal, we learned from the prefecture . Minesweepers, who came from the Landes with dogs specialized in detecting explosives, inspected the high school on Tuesday afternoon.
