As reported by La Dépêche du midi, a Pakistani man broke into the reception center for asylum seekers in Pamiers, armed with a knife, to make sure his 14-year-old “bride” had not met another man.
The scene was surprising. On Tuesday, March 2, the Foix Criminal Court was the scene of an unexpected exchange, to say the least, between President Hervé Barrié and a defendant of Pakistani origin. As reported by La Dépêche du midi this Thursday, March 4, this 36-year-old individual was prosecuted for brandishing a knife at the reception center for asylum seekers (Cada), in Pamiers, in Ariège, to ensure that her 14-year-old “bride” had not met another man. Particularly threatening, the individual was finally overpowered by the teenager’s family.
“France is nothing”
During his hearing, the defendant made comments that shocked the audience. “Me, what I want is the girl,” he said. And he insisted, “Mr. President, are you then giving me the girl?” Also according to the details of La Dépêche du midi, the magistrate then asked him what he intended to do with the young girl “if she refuses to marry (him)?” “You know that in France you can’t marry her against her will!?,” he reminded him. The individual, however, did not disassemble. “Me, Pakistani. She is Russian. France is nothing,” he asserted. The defendant was sentenced to three years in prison.
