Two transgender people were stabbed overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday in Nice (Alpes-Maritimes).
The alleged attacker was arrested and reportedly said he wanted to “die in the name of Allah.”
He was taken into custody.
Police were on a dinner break at the Saint-Augustin police station in Nice (Alpes-Maritimes) when they picked up, around 12:50 a.m., a radio message reporting a violent knife attack in the city center, Boulevard Gambetta.
These three LAC officials and colleagues immediately go to the scene and learn that two perpetrators are on the run. The alleged stabber is reportedly dressed in Bayern Munich football team tracksuit bottoms. The video operators tell the speakers that the two men are at the Albert 1er garden on the Promenade des Anglais, beach side. The police officers of the BAC spin on the spot and manage to arrest a first man of Tunisian origin at 1h05.
The two victims are two transgender people. “Both were assaulted, but only one was stabbed. She received several stab wounds to the shoulder, cheek, arm and hands, but her life-threatening condition is not not engaged”, specifies a source close to the file to TF1info.
“Shoot me, I want to die a martyr”
At the same time, the alleged perpetrator of the stab wounds manages to flee on foot on the promenade and does not obey the police officers’ orders to stop. The fugitive would then have shouted: “Allah Akbar. Shoot me, I want to die as a martyr. I want to go to paradise”.
Officers then see him running towards the beach to approach a group of people. At the last moment, the fugitive changes his trajectory and finally heads towards a couple. The police are shouting at onlookers to move away, because the man is identified as the alleged perpetrator of a stabbing.
Finally, two police officers manage to surround him and a third, who arrived as reinforcements, tackles him to the ground. In his pocket, officials find a bloody Opinel knife. At this moment, the individual reportedly told the police that his name was Mohamed D., that he was born in 2002 in Nice and lived in the town. He would also have repeated that he wanted to “die as a martyr” and that he wanted to “kill in the name of Allah, kill a fag”.
