The prefecture of Vendée demanded his immediate expulsion, the interim relief judge of the Administrative Court of Nantes has just ordered him this week to release “without delay” the apartment he occupies and yet this Afghan national of about 40 years does not move. Illustration of the impotence of the State: a foreigner can quietly stun the administrative machine and decide to occupy an apartment on which he has no right if that is his pleasure.
This week’s ruling is only the new twist of a judicial soap that pits the Afghan national against the state and the Vista association that hosts him. Problem: the gentleman has taken a good start and has increased appeals. By June 2023, he had obtained subsidiary protection because he was not eligible for refugee status. In July 2023, the French Office for Immigration and Integration (OFII) had informed him that he had to leave his home for a temporary centre. Mr. has refused. On 27 October, the prefect of Vendée himself ordered him to leave the premises within 15 days: a new refusal. And the state is hesitant to use force because “associations” and good souls would be malicious.
The worst thing is that his freed accommodation will not be allocated to Frenchmen but to other immigrants awaiting housing. In the Vendée department, no fewer than 82 “asylum seekers” and their families are waiting for a home generously paid for by the French.
If he is expelled, let us hope that, in order to pass his rage, this Afghan does not decide to “punish” the French in one way or another...
