A 22-year-old man of Russian origin and resident of Durningen, had multiple Telegram channels where he spread jihadist propaganda and incited terrorist acts, between 2023 and 2024. He also had more than 1,500 child pornography files. He was tried before the Strasbourg Criminal Court on Thursday, January 9.
His youthful face, curly hair and sad demeanor do nothing to detract from the seriousness of the facts he is accused of. This 22-year-old, who left Russia at the age of eight with his mother to settle in France, has nurtured a sustained and dangerous online jihadist activity. His radicalization began about six years ago. His indoctrination took place slowly, far from his Orthodox baptism. He first read the Koran, then converted, before choosing a Muslim first name. He began viewing radical content on TikTok to deepen his so-called religious knowledge. He developed a taste for the songs of the Islamic State, listening to them from morning to night. He then planned to go to an Islamic land to become a fighter and calls for massacres.
