SINGAPORE - Police have arrested four male suspects aged between 18 and 22 for a rioting case at Tampines.
Police say they received a call at about 1.27am on Aug 22 about a fight at Tampines.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the incident was between two groups of suspects who had a dispute over a staring incident which later escalated into a fight.
After extensive enquiries, officers from the Bedok Police Division managed to establish the identities of those involved and arrested four male suspects between August 28 and Sep 3.
Investigations against the four suspects are on-going.
Those found guilty of the offence of rioting under Section 147 of the Penal Code Chapter 224 may face up to seven years' jail and caning.
Commander of Bedok Police Division, Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police How Kwang Hwee commended his officers for their efforts in tracking down the suspects.
He added, "Police will not condone such lawless and violent behaviour. Perpetrators of such crimes can expect to face the full brunt of the law, regardless of their age."
