SELANGOR, Malaysia - Four men tried to steal money from an ATM at a petrol station but gave up after a staff member entered to start work.
In yesterday morning's incident, the men pulled the 60-year-old worker to the back of the petrol station and assaulted him before fleeing on two motorcycles.
Subang OCPD Asst Comm Yahaya Ramli said the petrol station was closed between 11pm and 6am and had no security guard.
The thieves had sprayed black paint over the CCTV mounted to the ceiling. The footage before the CCTV was sprayed had captured an image of four men wearing helmets.
They were believed to have used a blowtorch in their attempt to open the ATM.
Police believe they were professionals or familiar with the security system as the security alarm was not triggered.
