I used to stay at Rivervale drive, back in year 2001 Penny Low was the MP at Punngol East.

At that time I was just retrenched, My wife and I went to MPS for asking her to help us with the high cost for my 2 kindergarten children. Both of my children attended the PAP kindergarten, and each costing $ 190+.(I couldnt remember exact amount)

At that time she was very sarcastic to us and said " Pre-school is not so important, even she also didnt attend any when she was young"

And at yesterday Straits times(above) quoted her "My heart aches whenever blah,blah,blah" about pre-school.

What a big HYPOCRITE.!!!

No need to see MP as the CDC is there to assist those who need financial help. MP can only tell them to go to CDC. There is no excuse for this whiner.

Again, what has worked at a micro individual level is not necessarily applicable across the board at a macro level.

Hong Kong has subsidies for pre-school education since 2007. Capitalist HK appreciates the importance of a level playing field especially in education, which is the traditional route by which the poor lift themselves out of poverty. I'm trilingual. Chinese as a second language plus we learned the National Language between 1963 in 1965.

My Chinese is a bit rusty from lack of use but a couple of months of immersion and I'd be up and running.
