A former fishmonger assistant who sold bottles of black pills to elderly customers for joint pains and body aches was fined $3,000 on Thursday for selling a poison.
Poh Cher Chai, 45, admitted to one charge of selling dexamethasone without a licence at a fish stall at Jurong East Street 24 on March 3.
The court heard that Poh sold an unlabelled bottle containing 96 unknown back pills to an undercover Health Sciences Authority (HSA) officer at $70 that day.
The HSA had earlier in the year received an adverse drug reaction report from a doctor who said that one of her elderly patients was suffering from Cushing Syndrome, elevated liver enzymes and diabetes after taking some black pills for the past few months.
