A ranking of foreign nationals' ten favorite cities for women has gone viral on the internet. The ranking puts Dalian girls at the top, followed by those in Chongqing, Chengdu, Suzhou and Changsha, reports state-run China Daily.

It is not the first time for Dalian, in Liaoning province of northeastern China, to top the rankings, according to the newspaper. Girls from northeastern China are known for their white skin and height. They may be less graceful and subdued than those from the regions below the Yantze River, but they have a stronger personality, the newspaper said.

The fifth to tenth on the ranking are Nanjing, Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong, and Guangzhou. The newspaper described Nanjing girls as cultural, Beijing girls as capable, Shanghai girls as pretty, and Guangzhou girls as realistic.

Guangzhou girls are also said to be good at making soup. A Chinese saying goes: "To capture a man's heart, you have to capture his stomach first," meaning a woman with good culinary skills is more likely to win a man's love.
