Foreigners are laughing at Cheenapore

My two American colleagues have been assigned to S'pore for the last eight months, and they have been approached on two occasions by the relevant authority to take up permanent residency with a promise of full citizenship in due course.

Instead of appreciating such gesture extended to them, they are laughing at them and telling us that our govt is so desperate for foreign talents and they make our citizenship looks so cheap.

My response to them is that old fart is going all out to dilute the true-blue local population with new citizens in order to remain in power and also new citizens won't know about how he has almost bankrupted the nation!

i am from Canada, when i got my first EP i was offered PR leading to citizenship but turned it down. i can work in Singapore for as long as i want on an EP without having to bear any responsibility or have a large chunk of my salary locked away in CPF earning little return. i certainly don't want to live permanently in Singapore mostly because i find local Chinese such stupid racist and thee ae much better places to retire in the region if i so choose. why would i want my children growing up talking and thinking like a Singaporean and serving NS and why on earth would i give up a Canadian passport for a Singaporean passport as i don't think Singapore allows dual citizenship? certainly my welfare would not be treated as important once I become a citizen as the mass of Chinese living here. And anyways everyone knows it is better being an expat than a citizen in Singapore. i left Singapore after working here for several years.

Once a sinkie will always be a sinkie, you can claim not to be one but the facts remains, you're born one. You can pretend to be a thai but a thai you never will be, you're are not born one.
