and need to attend class. What on earth is called foreign talent? My definition of foreign talents are someone who has the fundamental skill to communicate properly with simple English and yet we have none from those influx of foreigners coming to steal job.

MOM has not, todate, disclose where and which villages these "talent" came from. Are Singapore inviting the wrong calibre and low quality of foreigners because quantity is more important than quality in PAP policies so that these poor stocks are easy to control once they converted to new citizens? Like I said many times, PAP will never admit their fault until the cow returns home or when alternative parties are voted into government.

Let's ingrain in our mind that we MUST give alternative parties 200% mandate in the coming election.

Speak English? They can't even behave like civilized human beings!

Bro
If these FTs could speak English well, they would be working in an mnc in their home country, working in a state owned company in USA or Europe or working as a high level diplomat in their own country.
They won't be in SG.

hi there

1. what english?
2. such talents are here to make up the numbers as sinkies are not making sufficient babies to beef up the headcount.
3. they are just some baby-making individuals regardless of language proficiency.
4. that is why sinkieland has so many talented jacks of all trades. :D

Talents do lie in many fields, not only speak simple English well, some have talent in cleaning tables some have it in mopping floor some have it in doing hard labor work well

as for me, my talent is to keep my hair short:eek:

Sometimes talent can be something as simple and subtle as

OPEN LEGS WIDE WIDE (e.g. Ah Tiong massage gals)

Since the pple in here usually classify all foreigners, including the bangala that sweeps the streets as FT, I'm posting according to that context

Not all FTs need to know English. As long as the job does not requires the person to interact with customers directly(more then enough of those jobs in SG), they do not need to know how to speak English. All they need is to be able to communicate with their employers and colleagues effectively

Here in Geylang Serai, there is a Muslim coffeeshop employing 3 China Mei Mei, one handling the cash counter and 3 taking orders ( drink ). Not a single of them can speak English.

It's very comical to observe when they ask in Mandarin what the AhBang wants. And I can tell through their attitude, they don't give a damm.

I would think they will make some effort to at least master some English, but no.... after 1 year, they still do not speak a word of English, not even dollar and cents.

On a similar note, some Singaporeans working abroad cannot speak the local language of the land they are working in. For example, in Dubai UAE.

Dear 66% Goondus, If you still insist in being GOONDUs in the next GE, u deserve to be FCUKED by the PAPee TRAITORs and replaced by their emboldened FOREIGN TRASH!

Pretty bad example, don't you think so. Didn't they want to be a international Financial Center and do they expect workers there to speak Arabic or ?

For your case, the China mei mei have to interact with the customers, they should learn at least rudimentary English. What I was referring to are the toilet cleaners, the cooks, the kitchen assistant, certain IT pple(e.g. programmers), factory assembly workers, etc who do not come into direct contact with customers. Thoee are the ones who do not need English.

Obviously the whole debate is about those FTs required to interact with the general public. At least get the context right. Bangladeshi have been working in Singapore for decades. Language was was never an issue. Its an issue when there is interaction with general public.

Why you think people are grumbling?

and I have stated quite clearly before on the context of FTs in my first statement in here

Singapore was built on the premise that everyone can at least speak the common language. For the old folks, it was a pity that the government did not do more to help them to learn the language, however difficult it may be.

You are suggesting that we now import people who do not speak the language and do not see any reason to learn it. Other than disagreeing with the numbers, I do not mind if they at least put in their best efforts in learning the language. That way, they can at least start integrating into the community and not stick to themselves.

Those who say that they do not need to learn English are categorising them as cheap foreign labour or sub-humans who are out of sight, out of mind. Surely, you do not want them to live in a cave and only leave the cave for work? It is exactly this mentality of not requiring them to live like locals that we have things like workers' dormitories, shops catering exclusively to foreigners and Sinkies hesitating to touch them with a ten-foot barge pole. The government is lax on immigrant quality because they wanted the influx and whether they speak English or not is of no consequence to them. But is this what the people want?

Many have had enough of mindlessly importing foreigners whether they are blue-collar or white-collar workers. What the people are asking for is quality not quantity. We want workers who can learn to live like locals and sincerely want to settle in Sinkieland. Those who do will not live in workers' dormitories or refuse to learn to speak English.

Basically, we do not want masses of people coming here for the sole purpose of earning money. There is also a need to control their numbers so that they have no choice but to interact with the locals if they do not wish to live like hermits. In case you are still clueless, many PRs do not see Sinkieland as their permanent home as well.

I curse you that one day, you will find yourself working as a minority amongst these foreigners you are talking about. When you speak in English to them, they will discriminate against you. Even when you can speak their language, they will still discriminate against you for the simple reason that you are a local and not one of them. Hope you become a foreigner in your own country.

I'm a bit lazy today and I'm not going too deep into this since I do not feel as strongly about it as the other topic. As U've pointed out, Older folks can't speak English

and Scroobal had mentioned earlier

Bangladeshi have been working in Singapore for decades. Language was was never an issue.

And I've actually encountered quite a number locals(mostly the pro-dialect speakers, U normally meet those in the heartlands) who could only speak in very broken Chinese and almost non-existant English so to me, English is not really too big an issue

I am not Scroobal and I don't care whether they speak or don't speak English. I care only about the numbers and the quality. Once that is taken care of, I am sure all the other things will fall into place.

Fuck you, moron. Can't you see that I am expressing my opinion on the topic? I have already stated that I do not care that they do not speak English. Do not care is also a valid opinion. Please go take some English lessons immediately. :oIo:

U are of coz free to express your opinions but please do it without quoting my speech. Not sure about the rest but I'd assume someone was addressing my post and not just expressing an opinion when they do that ;)
