What happend to our so-called 1st class education in the world ?
What are your motivations for saying that singapore's education system is a failure ?
Can u give us a good blow-by-blow account of how u go about recruiting your required staff so that the people of singapore can assess your HR policies and practices as practised by your esteemed company ?

i am not saying that.. i was questioning it..

over 100 applicants and only 1 singaporean applied for the job says alot.
you could do the advertising and easily justified what i have just said..

i think you should read my posts again..if we have a choice we would like to take in singaporean, however there was only 1 singaporean applicant among the more than 100 applicants who applied and the reason we didnt take him was because he wasnt good enough. nothing to do with ageism and the remuneration package.. infact he was asking for lower than what some of the FT is asking...

How much were you offering? Did you have no choice or no choice at the price you could afford?
The problem with the economic situation nowadays is that FT take up "skilled" technical jobs that pay between 2.5-5K/month, the best Singaporeans (that could have potentially done the skilled "technical" jobs) take up banking, management, trading roles that pay 8K-10K/month, and the less skilled Singaporeans find themselves out of jobs.

If there were proper controls in place (for example the H1B Visas that US implements) - what you will find is that the cost of hiring a skilled worker will increase, creating incentive for Singaporeans to take up skilled roles instead of roles in banking, management, law etc.

As it stands the top engineers in Singapore earn maybe 600K/year which is a vast disparity from the top lawyers/doctors who earn high above 3M.

We once place an advertise on the paper and the internet for a web developer with a salary range of 3k-5K , there were NO Singaporean who applied for the job.
and at another time, we didnt state any salary range and only got 1 singaporean who applied for the job..

my point is, many singaporeans are just not up to the mark. there are not enough good web developers around.

of course this only apply to certain positions, and web developer is one of them.. there is a lack of capabale singaporean doing it.
the same cannot apply for engineers, we have alot of them around..

honestly i dont understand what is the point you are trying to put across?

if you think all foreigner are good, then you are very wrong, we have sent many of them back because they cannot deliver. problem is we wont know whether they can deliver until we rope them in. some of them failed because they couldnt adopt to the new envoirnment/culture, while others were simply not good enough..just like those singaporean we have..

You are totally right. Education in Singapore has been highjacked for political control and stupefaction of the masses. Education in Singapore is made to suck as the ruling few hate people smarter than them and become a potential threat. To make statements saying teaching too much is a waste of resources and they may leave Singapore is the pure representation of selfish and evil mind of those who impose such a system. I remember them saying something like this many years ago.
Singapore has talent and potential but you unfortunately need to invest time training them The schools in Singapore are a utter waste of time and money.

If you are looking for cheap talent I would suggest you move to china, india, vietnam, etc. SG is no more a cheap place to do business unless the type of business can sustain the type of salary expected here. SG is not lack of talent. Like the chinese saying goes: If you pay the right price you can even get the ghost to work for you. Companies here are not looking for talent they are looking for CHEAP talent which unfortunately are not widely available in SG.

So 5k per month is cheap talent? Ok I now see why you guy can't compete with the foreigners. You don't even bother to read all the post before you come in and shoot.
