Japan Airlines will be introducing full-flat beds to its business class seats in the latest revamp of its international services.
This is the first overhaul for the state-back airline in 10 years, said Jun Kato, head of marketing for the airline.
It intends to use the new business, first-class and economy seats on international routes between London and Tokyo in January, gradually expanding to other European cities and New York, the carrier said in a statement in Tokyo earlier this week.
Kato said: "We felt we were lagging behind other carriers where full-flat seats are standard.
"This should help put us ahead and help boost demand."
The airline, which posted a record profit of 187 billion yen (S$2.92 billion) in the fiscal year ended March, also plans to add more planes and new routes as it expands its international services, reported Bloomberg.
