Fire at Choa Chu Kang, residents evacuated

SINGAPORE: Residents on four floors in a block in Choa Chu Kang Street 62 had to be evacuated on Saturday when a fire broke out in one of the flats.
The fire started from a unit on the 11th floor in Block 621 at about 6pm.
The flat owners were not in the house so the firemen had to force a break-in.
Thick smoke engulfed the area and some residents said they heard a loud bang.
Firemen had to break into the unit where the officers from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) had to evacuate residents from the 9th to the 12th floor.
The fire was put out in 10 minutes and no one was injured.
Evacuated residents started returning home after 9pm.
SCDF is investigating the cause of the fire.
