PETALING JAYA - A Porsche Cayman worth RM200,000 (S$80,343.40)was destroyed along with two homes in a fire at Jalan 1/4 here yesterday.
The luxury car was parked in front of one of the houses.
One of the house occupants, a 64-year-old woman known as Chan, was at the scene but was too distraught to talk.
It is learnt that the car belonged to her husband who was not at home at the time.
Fire and Rescue Department operations assistant director Mohamad Sani Harul said the total damage might be more than RM300,000.
He said the department received the call at 10.35am and arrived at the scene five minutes later. "The two homes were on fire when we got there.
"We managed to control the fire about 10 minutes later. We are still investigating the cause," he said.
A 22-year-old neighbour, identified as Jolene, said she and her family were at home when they heard a commotion at 11am.
"The dogs outside kept on barking. We looked out through the window and saw the neighbours' houses in flames.
"We ran outside and shouted to see if anyone was inside the houses.
"However, we believe our neighbours were away at the time"
