Fight between two wives lands woman in hospital
JITRA: The rivalry between the two wives of an odd-job worker boiled over violently when the second wife attacked the other woman with a parang, injuring her in the head, face and hands.
The first wife’s 16-year-old daughter also injured her right foot when she kicked the weapon wielded by the 26-year-old assailant during the 10am incident yesterday.
The 54-year-old mother and her daughter were rushed to the Jitra Hospital. The older woman was transferred to the Sultan Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Setar about an hour later.
It is learnt that the two wives had been having fights daily after the second wife moved into the house about two weeks ago. The first wife has five children while the second one just gave birth to a boy seven months ago.
A neighbour said he heard loud cries from the children during the fight between the two women. Kubang Pasu deputy OCPD Deputy Supt Ibrahim Mohd Yusof said it was investigating the incident following a report lodged by a relative of the first wife.
In another case in Butterworth, Penang, a 32-year-old man was found dead on the ground floor at the Taman Teluk Indah flats.
Yong Koo Keen, who was from Kuala Lumpur, was earlier seen loitering around the flats for about an hour before his body was found at about 3.30pm yesterday.
It is believed that the victim could have fallen from the 21st floor of one of the blocks.
