RX8 driver arrested for drug offences, after causing accident, injuring passers-by
This Mazda RX 8 driver was arrested for drug-related offences after speeding into one-way street at Syed Alwi Road, crashing into a Honda Fit, injuring the driver, and two other passers-by.
Says STOMPer Ms Yeo:
"On September 11, at about 2am, this Mazda RX8 driver SFP 5560 L attempted to drive straight across the main road into a one way street at Syed Alwi Road.
"The driver drove at a very fast speed from the left side of the main road and crashed into a Honda Fit (going straight) which flew right smack into the stalls of the coffeeshop.
"Passers-by from all direction came to help evacuate the driver of the Fit who was still trapped in the car.
"Two elderly uncles working in the coffeeshop were also hurt very badly, bleeding non-stop.
"Everyone started to scold the RX8 driver when he shamelessly retorted that it was not his fault because the road was slippery.
"When the only oil and water stains evident on the road were all oozing out from his crashed car.
"What's enraging was that the RX8 driver did not even bother to help with the casualties or offer any sort of help, instead he just stood there acting like it was not his fault and could still retort back at the crowd. He should not get away lightly!"
STOMP contact the Police for a statement. A Police Spokesperson told STOMP:
"Police received a call on 11 september 2009, at about 1.45am, informing us about a traffic accident involving three cars and two pedestrians along Syed Alwi Road.
"Two of the drivers and the two pedestrians were conveyed to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. T
"The other car driver, a 38-year-old Chinese man, was arrested for drug related offences and Police investigations are ongoing."
