GE: S$20m plan to rejuvenate Moulmein-Kallang GRC announced

SINGAPORE : The People's Action Party (PAP) team of the Moulmein-Kallang GRC has announced a S$20 million plan to rejuvenate the new constituency, which has been formed after the re-drawing of electoral boundaries.
Environment and Water Resources Minister Yaacob Ibrahim announced this at the PCF's 25th Anniversary at the Marina Barrage on Sunday morning.
He was joined by other Jalan Besar GRC MPs.
PAP candidate Edwin Tong, who is slated to replace outgoing MP Lee Boon Yang, was also present.
Dr Yaacob said the S$20 million budget is part of a larger masterplan, which may also include the Home Improvement Programme to upgrade old flats.
For now, the announced budget for the three divisions of the former Jalan Besar GRC and the new Moulmein division will improve and add common facilities to Moulmein-Kallang GRC.
Dr Yaacob said: "We do have the budget from the old Jalan Besar Town Council. Part of the budget obviously comes from Tanjong Pagar Town Council because Moulmein is part of Tanjong Pagar. So behind the scenes, we have been working together. If we are elected, there will be new boundaries, there will a new town council but we want to make sure that the funds are available."
