A TRE reader sent in the following photo, which TRE found that it was a notice posted on the notice board of Compassvale Villa RC some months ago:
The notice was written in Tagalog clearly targeting at Filipino residents living in the area. When translated, it actually said:
One wonders if there exists other sub-committees also like Myanmar sub-committee, PRC sub-committee, India sub-committee etc, to look after the interests of the other nationals living in the estate.
Indeed, a scan through the various forums showed that Singaporean netizens are questioning such a move. Many are asking how RCs are going to help integrate residents when they have their separate nationality-based sub-committees:

“We are looking for volunteers for our Filipino sub-committee.
If you want to help and participate in community work, please contact us.
Thank you very much.”
Apparently, there now exists a Filipino sub-committee inside a Residents’ Committee (RC), presumably to look after the interests of Filipino residents.If you want to help and participate in community work, please contact us.

One wonders if there exists other sub-committees also like Myanmar sub-committee, PRC sub-committee, India sub-committee etc, to look after the interests of the other nationals living in the estate.
Indeed, a scan through the various forums showed that Singaporean netizens are questioning such a move. Many are asking how RCs are going to help integrate residents when they have their separate nationality-based sub-committees:
hithere1: I’ve never seen Chinese sub committees, Malay sub committees, Indians and Eurasians. Why the need for such groups? For the pinoys to band together because they don’t fit well with the rest?

RCs are formed to cater to the needs of all estate residents regardless of race and nationalities, there should be no prejudice or special treatment of any particular groups. Why is it that Compassvale Villa RC is forming a Filipino sub committee which main purpose I presume from the language of the RC notice, is to cater to the needs of the Filipino community??? What is happening to our Country?? Is this the so call ‘integration’ that the Govt is talking about?? A Singapore RC notice written in a foreign language??
A RC sub committee that is formed to cater to the needs of a special group using funds from the residents. No wonder there is so much anger on the internet from people who has seen this image. Years ago, such notice appearing will be unimaginable, it will never happen. Now that the Govt encourage FT to join grassroots, let’s see whether this will unite or break up the social fabric of this Country.
