PAP has always been running reactive policies due to fatalistic belief that nothing can be done by a puny country. However, facilitating roles end now as the only way towards survival is to have real leadership and proactive planning.
This is something that LKY can never do. LKY solves people not problems. Right now, which economy manages to survive needs to be able to understand the real economic problems at hand. It exceeds a few meaningless econometric equations and meaningless statistical regressions.
One team in Singapore is not wrong but, traditionally, the right people for the wrong positions and the wrong people altogether have been chosen to convenience LKY to rule with ease. The payback is a team unable to solve problems. LKY with all his excuses gone having created total control, fails to realize that his social darwinism beliefs when pushed to the limits of solving people, ultimately leaves the society unable to deal with systemic problems. LKY does not understand middle way and thus is an extremist, and the problems now challenging Singapore are also extreme. LKY has destroyed so many scholarsm denied so many talent that no one has a clear picture of what is happening to Singapore. LKY business acumen is only good for pre-war manner of running family businesses. Such acumen is a disaster once the business exceeds optimal size of control that can be executed by a few family members. LKY mentality is not designed for running MNCs and big companies.
