In an exclusive scoop, The New Paper on Sunday has learnt that an organisation used by FIFA to monitor fraud through unusual betting patterns has fingered an AFF Suzuki Cup match between Malaysia and Laos.
Sportsradar pointed to highly unusual betting patterns and the final score as strong evidence that the match had been tainted.
While the national team is not implicated, the alleged rigging involved the match between the teams from Malaysia and Laos that were in the same knockout stage group as the Lions.
Amid worries that the revelation could taint their historic win, members of Singapore's national team say their victory is "clean" and cannot be affected by the alleged kelong.
