A soon-to-be dad has died unexpectedly before getting the chance to meet his newborn baby boy. Tom Richardson, of Camborne, passed away on June 20 having randomly collapsed at home earlier in the month.
The 33-year-old, who grew up in Haemoor, Penzance, spent nearly two weeks in intensive care before his death and tragically his baby, who he was so excited to meet, was born during this time. Tom is described by those closest to him as a caring young man who "loved life" and had a "beaming smile".
His friends and family say he will shine through in his son, George. The NHS employee and his partner Lorna were due to become parents for the first time in the coming weeks when he collapsed out of nowhere at home. They say he was "over the moon" about their family's future.
Sophie Quick, a friend of the family, has set up a fundraising page on behalf of his mother, Susan (Sue) Cocking with funds going towards funeral costs, raising George and supporting Lorna.
