Ex-teacher accused of molesting, performing oral sex on pupils

SINGAPORE: A former school teacher has been accused of molesting and performing oral sex on his pupils in a primary school located in the eastern part of Singapore.

The 37-year-old man allegedly committed the offences on boys aged between 9 and 11 years.

He is believed to have performed the acts between March and May 2009 at various places in the school, including a computer laboratory.

He also allegedly outraged the modesty of his students by touching their groins and buttocks.

In court on Wednesday, the accused said that he will claim trial.

His case will be heard again on January 9 next year.

A male former teacher has been charged for allegedly molesting three primary school boys.

The 37-year-old man teaches the Chinese language in a primary school in the east and all his victims are students in the school.

Between March and July 2009, the man had allegedly molested the boys multiple times in the school's computer room and in a cubicle in the male staff toilet.

He had allegedly fondled the boys' private parts and even performed oral sex four times on one of the boys.

Two of the boys, both nine years old and in primary three, are his students, while the other boy, 11, is in primary five.

The man is believed to have lost his job after the alleged crime was exposed. According to the school's website, the suspect is no longer included in the school's list of Chinese language teachers.

The suspect faces 11 charges, including 4 charges of performing oral sex on one of the boys, and 7 charges of molesting all three boys.

If found guilty of performing oral sex on one of the boys, the suspect may be jailed a minimum of 8 years up to a maximum of 20 years, and will receive no less than 12 strokes of the cane.

If found guilty of molesting the boys, the suspect may be jailed up to 5 years, or fined, or both.

The soft-spoken and bespectacled man, known to be single, attended court alone this morning looking composed and sporting a faint smile.

He has indicated that he will be fighting his case but has yet to appoint a lawyer.

The case has been adjourned to 9 January next year.
