SINGAPORE: A former sales designer has been sentenced to 32 months' jail for criminal breach of trust amounting to S$243,600 and for providing false information to loansharks.
44-year-old Salahudin Mohd Rasip admitted to giving an unlicensed moneylender his brother-in-law's home address in April 2011.
He used the address to obtain loans.
But he defaulted on payments and the loansharks ended up harrassing Salahudin's relative.
Court documents also showed that the accused was facing prosecution and was to appear in court in September 2012. But Salahudin absconded.
He had a job at Homeway Lifestyle I D, a firm dealing with interior designing, and went on to pocket sales payments from various clients between October 2012 and June 2013.
The court heard that no restitution has been made so far.
In sentencing, District Judge Marvin Bay said Salahudin's act of giving the loansharks false information was "despicable". - CNA/xq
