Ex-Mendaki manager charged after he allegedly tried to obtain laptop worth over $1k as bribe

SINGAPORE - A digital information technology manager at Yayasan Mendaki allegedly tried to obtain a bribe in the form of a laptop worth more than $1,000 from an IT firm employee.
Malaysian Zulkifli Kader, 51, who is no longer working for the Malay/Muslim self-help group, is accused of committing the offence on three occasions between April and May 2023.
In a statement, the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau said that he allegedly tried to the obtain the bribe from an A-Speed employee as a reward for accepting the company’s tender for work linked to Mendaki.
On Feb 4, Zulkifli, who is a Singapore permanent resident, was charged with one count of attempting to obtain a bribe.
His pre-trial conference will take place on March 5.
If convicted, he can be jailed for up to 10 years and fined up to $200,000.
