A former manager of the BreadTalk confectionary was jailed seven months on Wednesday for committing criminal breach of trust amounting to $14,539.
Or Zhi Xian, a 24-year-old Singaporean, had pleaded guilty on April 4. Then, a district court heard he was the manager of the BreadTalk branch in West Mall shopping centre in Bukit Batok in January.
He was found out after the finance department informed the area operation manager that the sales proceeds of Jan 7, 10, 17 and 18 were not reflected in the branch's bank account.
Or initially lied that he had deposited the money but confessed when questioned by police.
He had used the money to settle debts and pay for personal expenses. No restitution had been made.
