JAKARTA - Tangerang District Court on Wednesday sentenced former photojournalist Robin Ong, 53, to three months in prison for fraud.
"The defendant has violated Articles 372 and 378 of the Criminal Code on embezzlement and deception and is sentenced 3 months and 15 days in jail," presiding judge Toga Napitupulu told the hearing.
In response to the decision, Robin said he would appeal to the High Court.
Robin was reported to the police by Samuel Bon Hansen for failing to obtain a special vehicle license number for him.
Samuel told the police that he gave Rp 22 million (S$2,869) to Robin to procure a personalized license number for his luxury car.
The police detained Robin on Jan. 13 after he twice failed to meet a summons for questioning.
Prosecutor Riama Sihite had asked the court for a 6 month jail term.
