Ex-DJs settle suit with Power 98
Mar 30, 2010
By Eddino Abdul Hadi
FORMER radio deejays Joe Augustin and Shareen Wong have settled their suit against radio station Power 98 for wrongful termination of employment.
The agreement was reached out of court a few weeks ago.
Mr Augustin, 40, who was a radio presenter for more than 20 years on Power 98, SPH UnionWorks and MediaCorp, told The Straits Times: 'This is a monetary settlement but the terms have to remain private because that is the order of the court. We are happy that it is settled.'
A spokesman for Safra Radio, which owns Power 98, said in a statement that the 'matter has been amicably resolved by the parties without any ruling by the court, and the action has since been discontinued by the plaintiffs'.
In February last year, Mr Augustin and Ms Wong were abruptly fired from their eight-month- long morning show on Power 98.
They sued their former employers one month later on grounds of wrongful termination. Ms Wong, 35, said that two days before they were fired, they had received an SMS from their management calling them for a meeting.
