A former accountant with an automobile company who forged cheques totalling $510,000 to fund his gambling activity was jailed for 52 months on Friday.
Tan Han Hua, 32, now jobless and a bankrupt, had admitted to five charges of forging DBSBank cheques for $60,000 and $50,000, totalling $290,000, at Komoco Cars, which sells Hyundai vehicles, at Alexandra Road in May and July last year.
The remaining eight charges were taken into consideration.
A district court heard that in February last year, Tan came to know a person using the moniker Nick in one of the Internet forums about on-line casinos.
