STOMPer Choo saw this delivery rider using a motorcycle with a Malaysian licence plate. He wonders if Malaysian vehicles are authorised to be used as delivery vehicles in Singapore.

He said:

"Today (Feb 16), at about 3.40pm, I spotted this Malaysian-registered motorcycle (JLX4334), apparently doing delivery services for McDonald's, at the junction of Hougang Ave 4 and Hougang Ave 8.

"I believe Malaysian-registered vehicles are not allowed to make such deliveries.

"And I don't think there is any insurance policy to cover the motorcyclist, should he get into an accident."

Malaysian-registered vehicles are allowed for commercial purposes in Singapore, e.g. Malaysian lorries delivering foods and goods, Malaysian buses ferrying passengers etc., and vice versa for Singapore-registered vehicles in Malaysia. In fact, insurance covers all the way to southern Thailand. I don't see why there should be any exception for motorcycles.

Traffic police would have trouble trying to issue summons to number plate that read กด123.

Anyway, I've seen Thai-registered lorries, buses, vans and even cars in Singapore before. Rare and occasional, but there are. However, I haven't seen any Thai-registered motorcycle here before; don't think motorcycles could make the range of some 1,000km from southern Thailand to Singapore.
