Abass Saad: australian hat-trick hero in the 1994 malaysia cup.

When interviewed, he said he hoped to get a Spore PR after their successful 1994 league and cup double.
That was before he was charged with match fixing.

That shows how high standards were in 1994 with regards to granting PRs; let alone citizenships.

Now, prostitutes and whores are handed citizenships freely! Standards have definitely dropped.

To be fair... was he denied because the match fixing scandal was actually a police case (CPIB was called in and he was interviewed/interrogated) by them...
As far as I know, if there is any police case against a PR, their status could be in jeopardy. Only person that I know that has defied the odds is Christopher LEe (Fann Wong's husband). Went to jail and still has PR....

I like Abbas Saad. He was a superb footballer and as far as I am concerned, he deserves PR citizen, despite some hiccups. Better still, make him a citizen, that is if he still wants it.:D

His bro Michael Vana deserve PR too.

He is now a very good football analyst, one of the best on SG TV in my opinion.
He's very knowledgeable because he watches a lot of games, obviously knows the game well having been a player, succinct and to-the-point in his comments and never afraid to make a prediction,
Not argumentative and doesn't state the obvious like some others.

It's not about 1994 or 2004 or whatever. Cheap and easy PRs are only given to ethnic Chinese and Indians. Even caucasians, no way cheap and easy. Professionals on employment passes, a lot. Caucasians are usually highly skilled professionals, desirable economically. But they make very bad PRs or worse, citizens. They were brought up on silly doctrines like democracy, freedom of expression, privacy and rights of the individual.
