C.Leck keeps buying time -Why stay of sentence in such serious offence Posted: Aug 5, 2009 12:14 PM

Shocking that the STC announced C.Leck has been sentenced and his 2 doping charges landed him with a 3 years ban....very light compared to M.Thwaites , Richard Ang and Boyle Chua .......Is there favouritism that he got light punishment with this mammoth offence that "killed" many punters?
Worst still applied for stay of sentence and granted , he has been getting this stay of execution for far too long ! Since his offence till now, his stay of sentence has been extended and eventually will be permanent. Why is he given such previlege? The other traines with similar charges previously all given " death sentence" and 2 can NEVER come back to racing.
Over this period of time before verdict , he already had more than sufficient time organise himself with Brian Dean, O'Hara and HK Tan to form a more formidable gang. Why give him more time?
He should be banned from the STC immediately to avoid more harm to the reputation of the club.

Why stay of sentence and concurrent sentencing for such a serious offence in doping 6 horses?
Sentence should be consequtively and not concurrent , half hearted punishment for him . Who is the "power" behind that supports his actions and light sentence? Hope CPIB will investigate further , his illiterate UNCLE can even stand in as the culprit ( be his Tua Pek Kong in court ! ) yet can be discharged ? Isnt this perverting the law? I am no lawyer , but commensense tells me something is not right in this whole episode.
Horse racing is a big industry , SNTC should be more prudent in handling this doping case , by keeping Charles Leck in the trainer's list it is sending a nerve racking message to the public. Racing already has a bad reputation , coupled with the SNTC's decision to give him light punishment and allowing continuation in plying his trade until sentence to take place at a much later date only allows C.leck to be bold and brazen. The market already is abound with news that C.leck is very proud of his connections and bragged nobody can touch him.Surely Singapore is not a place to breed such bad reputation trainers , it will be a disgrace to SNTC and higher authorities governing horse racing.
