<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"--><!-- more than 4 paragraphs -->I WAS driving home with my wife and mother-in-law via the Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE) tunnel last Friday evening at about 6.20pm. We were headed towards Sengkang.
Midway along our journey, just above our car, there was a deafening sound from the ceiling of the tunnel near the exhaust fans, and the road shook violently. A lot of dust clouded the vicinity. It was quite surreal and frightening. Fortunately, the vehicles in the tunnel stayed their course without any incident.
I would like to know what happened that evening. Is the tunnel checked periodically for structural soundness, especially when there is so much road and construction work above ground?
