ERP rates to increase by 50-100%

Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) rates are set to increase by 50-100 per cent, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced on Tuesday.

From 8-8.30am. the ERP rate for the Ayer Rajah Expressway will increase to $1, up from $0.50.

From 6.30-7pm, the rate for two gantries, eastbound ECP (Marina South) and on slip road from Ophir Road, will increase to $3 from $2, an increase of 50 per cent.

The revised rates will take effect next Monday, Nov 2.

The revision comes after the completion of LTA's quarterly review of traffic conditions on ERP-priced roads and expressways.

The next ERP review will take place in Nov 2009 for the December school holidays.

Not surprised about the increase lah. Utility prices also up what. Its just a matter of time before the public transport fare also goes up. They'll use the some old & tired excuse such as oil prices is up. Never mind that it was this same excuse they used the last time

The only way to control prices is to control the PAP. Can only do that by throwing some/all of the PAP out of the gov't. This gov't has already cost Sporeans billions$$$$. Its going to cost Sporeans more billions until they get rid of the real cause

GCT forgot to mention that he doesn't mind polishing gold bullions (99.9% pure)..is much better than owning a depreciating piece of metal, which is a liablity the minute,ones get his/her hands on...

With increase in ERP, the cost to businesses e.g. delivery prices also go up. Guess who will end up paying
