Eric Tan saga proves PAP has great foresight !

The difference between Eric Tan and PAP is 'incentive'.

Eric Tan may have every right to be angry with WP snubbing him for a younger (but softer) Gerald Giam.

But would Eric Tan have resigned if he was paid millions by WP ? I bet to my last dollar he will stay. Don't believe, ask Lim Boon Heng.

Lim Boon Heng was 'hurt' when PAP wanted to build casinos in Singapore. LBH disagreed with the proposal, and the resentment was so strong that he had to cry on national TV. But despite that, LBH did not quit on his own volition.

You see my point ? A good salary makes a world of difference.

Before the cement on the wall has hardened, there are already cracks in the WP.

Imagine if they have come into power and someone wants the more cushy ministries and didn't get it. PAP indeed has foresight.

Unfortunately for the 54% of voters in Aljunied, they only saw the backside.

There are really a lot of issues that resulted the fall of Aljunied and PAP scoring only 60.1%. Smaller issues like lack protection to employee by garment resulted in workplace bullying by management and also the inconvenience & inflexible to attend ICT & RT training also contribute to people voting for Oppositions. The garment must not neglect all these smaller issues.

To stay for the wrong reasons and for greed is even more damaging in the long run. That is why the whites have such a negative image. TS is very juvenile in his outlook to think that paying someone millions just for him to stay on is a compelling factor.

Au contraire, this is the most effective weeding process. If someone has the heart to stay on, he will, regardless of the money. That is someone you want to keep. If someone wants to move on because there's no money there, he is not someone you will want to keep in your stable.

the strict discipline from the PAP really impressed me!!! I am pro WP but from this saga, i really dont know what to say already. If Wp carry on this way, i think i will change my stand on WP and vote in PAP in 2016!!!

WP is the poor man's version of PAP.

Strict party discipline is a trait WP clearly wants to emulate and they are doing not too shabbily trying.

I see your point but I do not think you make a good argument. The Eric Tan issue arises in two possible areas: Eric's forcing of the issue by pre-empting his leaders OR/AND WP's mismanagement?/misrepresentation?/unclear?/unspoken?/unstated? policy that the leader of the GRC will automatically go to Parliament as NCMP. LTK said he will leave it to the parties concerned to decide but he did not make a clear policy on how the decision will be made in a GRC team.

The money in this case is worth only $60,000(@$1,200pm?) for the five-year contract compared to $1,000,000 if elected. The money factor is so enticing that some are professing great love for Singapore, for residents and for you if you are willing to listen to them. But not Eric Tan since $60,000 over a five-year period is not substantial.

This is a negative for the WP because even before they open their mouths in Parliament, people may think they lack leadership and look at askance at Gerald Giam. Of course others will be sympathetic and think they have a snake in the grass in the form of Eric Tan. Both loses.

I rather not have ministers who pay themselves multi-millions just sitting in the cabinet and obey orders. Any tom, dick and harry can do that. No need to waste tax payers money to feed these kind of jia-liao-bees.
Every organisation sure have conflict, it is up to them to resolve it. But their purpose must be to serve the people and the country.
The pap clearly have deviated from their mission, choosing to enrich thenselves and make themselves become the master of the people. making policies that benefit them and cause suffer to the people.
So your decide what is best for you. The future lies in your hands.
Dynamism is not necessary bad for an organisation. It has a renewal system that ensures new blood has a chance to perform and contribute..
It ensures the one that can contribute most to the organisation stays on, which is what the wp is trying to do.
