Manchester United legend Eric Cantona has won the award for Best Goal Celebration in the history of the Premier League.

The award has been given for Cantona's pirouette and pose after scoring a delicate chip after a surging run against Sunderland in December 1996.

The celebration was voted the best in the Premier League's history by a poll of hundreds of thousands of football fans globally.

Cantona beat an emphatic Lomana Lua Lua acrobatic routine and Jimmy Bullard's choreographed effort with Hull to pick up the award.

The gong for Cantona's celebration is the sixth prize to be announced as part of the Premier League’s 20 Seasons anniversary.

The awards have been designed to honour the players and managers that have helped make the Premier League the best league in the world over the last two decades.

"That’s the only thing I won? For a king like me it’s not a lot," Cantona jokingly stated to the Premier League's official website.

The Frenchman was named the Premier League’s Overseas Player of the Decade ten years ago, and has been nominated for a record five awards: Player, Goal, Forward, Quote and of course, Celebration.
