Enforcement assistant jailed three years for corruption
SHAH ALAM: An enforcement assistant at the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry was sentenced to three years jail and fined RM20,000 for corruption involving RM2,200 six years ago.
Sessions Court judge Azhaniz Teh Azman Teh found Azudin Musa, 41, guilty of the charge.
He allowed a stay of the sentence pending an appeal but ordered Azudin to pay the fine.
He also increased Azudin's bail to RM40,000 from RM6,000 previously.
Azudin was charged with accepting RM1,000 bribe from one Ang Tun Chek as an inducement for him not to conduct inspection and take action against for allegedly exporting fake hard discs.
The offence took place outside the departure hall of the KL International Airport, Sepang, at 2pm on Feb 15, 2006.
He was also charged with accepting RM1,200 from Ang, also for the same purpose, at the KFC restaurant at KLIA at 12.40pm on March 18 the same year. - Bernama
