Cheap hotels add to parking woes

NO, I do not think hotels in residential areas should be allowed to charge hourly rates.
I live in Wishart Road - a quiet residential area of semi-detached houses, bungalows and condominiums.
There are three places of worship and we have had problems with illegal parking, made worse when two Fragrance hotels started operating in Morse Road and Wishart Road. We are unable to drive out or into our driveway whenever cars are parked in front of our gate.
I have called the police numerous times - always they wait until the drivers turn up, sometimes one hour later. In the meantime, we are stuck. This happens most often on Friday and Saturday evenings.
Along Wishart Road they even park on double yellow lines, and sometimes so near the road divider outside Pender Court that moving vehicles must use the opposite direction lane.
Another problem is indiscriminate parking along Morse Road. When I drive out to Morse Road from Wishart Road (Pender Court side), to Telok Blangah Road, the parked cars block my view of vehicles coming down from Mount Faber.
I have had close shaves a few times, and have told the police that this situation is just an accident waiting to happen.
Sometimes at night cars are parked on both sides of Morse Road, thus the tour buses cannot drive through from Mount Faber. Also cars going up or down must reverse to give way to other vehicles.
I have taken photos to support my views.

Whole of spore is over crowded with pple and cars and FTs.

You can only escape the crowd if you are rich enough to stay in district 10 & 11 bungalows.

So who did you vote for in the past elections?

If you are not happy, just move out. Who and what are you to disrupt local business and homegrown commerce? Just get out.

This is quite true, for common areas. And if you look at the ahem, higher-class places you'd see the population density and crowd level to be, hmm, as low and humble as they were even twenty years ago. In short, same difference. That's why living there is lovely when you think of it everyday, amongst other things.

As for people they should take it as a motivation to strive and be even more successful in their lives than they are already. All the best.

Has the writer confirmed the cars belonged to the hotel patrons or the church visitors? I bet my last dollar they come from those who visit the house of God.

To me, if one is visitng the hourly rated hotels, chances are they will not park nearby. Only people who want to show off their love for God are likely to park and cause congestion. Many of these bigots do not know what arseholes they are. Otoh, brothers who visit Fragrance tend to be zhitong - automatic.

Gov should just set aside land in Tuas on 10 or 15 year lease. Allow zoning to build KTV, seafood restaurants, pubs, bars, massage spas and even some hotels to "cater to those that have had too much to drink and need to sleep it off".

Tuas is far away from housing area and is often very dead at night as the factories close.

Holy or HOLeY...let them be:

17 I thought in my heart,
"God will bring to judgment
both the righteous and the wicked,
for there will be a time for every activity,
a time for every deed."

Ecc 3: 17

He writer must ask who gave them persmission to set up shop there?, the urban planner URA, the Building Control Authority, SCDF, NEA, Nparks & the CID of the police department plus The Public Untlities Board.

Why blame the Holy or the HOLeY for the problems caused, blame the 'chicken who laid the egg' that cause not only parking problems but social problems in the greed to make more money.

One thing is good is that, after one have commited the sin of fornication or adultery, one can go to church & ask for forgiveness & those who have forgiveness may be tempted to taste the 'apples' at the 'garden of eternal pleasures' ( budget hotels)...ha ha ha ha

:D

I agree with you on setting aside land at Tuas, but I violently disagree about who shld be there. You shld propose that all the Churches, chapels and places of worship be sited at tuas. It will be a great way to test their convictions and faith.

We need to keep the KTVs, pubs, bars etc within reach of our ageing Uncles who need to find some meaning and pleasure in the last quarter of their lives, so moving these to Tuas would be cruel.
