Electricity bill to fall
By Liaw Wy Cin

ELECTRICITY prices will fall 21 per cent for the next quarter from April to June.
This comes on the back of falling fuel oil prices, to which electricity prices are pegged.

From April to June, households will pay 18.03 cents per kWh of electricity, SP Services announced on Friday. It said this is the lowest rate since April 2005.

The forward fuel oil price in January, which was used to set the tariffs for the next quarter, was $60.47 per barrel, 35 per cent lower than October's $92.99.

'The reduction is largely due to lower fuel oil prices,' said SP Services in a statement.

Electricity tariffs here are reviewed every quarter.

SINGAPORE: The electricity tariff is coming down for the second straight quarter.

For the period of April 1 to June 30, it will be reduced by 21.37 per cent or 4.9 cents to 18.03 cents per kWh. This is the lowest rate in four years, since April 2005.

The tariff is currently at 22.93 cents per kWh for January to March 2009.

SP Services said the reduction is largely due to lower fuel oil prices.

The electricity tariff is reviewed quarterly and adjusted in line with the changes in the cost of electricity.

Now SP more transparent about pricing after selling off Power Station. If still manage by PAP sure wait long long so such big cut.
Now how come SMRT/SBS/TAXI/public transport/school/private bus still not reduce theirs price. Diesel and electricity already drop more than 30%~40% from the peak.
All keep quite FUCK all the public transport.

Pay less for utilities soon
Families can save up to $54 monthly, as tariffs till June are at four-year low
By Liaw Wy-Cin

'Any reduction is good news,' said Mr Lau, who lives in a five-room flat with his wife, three children and a maid. He said his business had not yet been affected by the downturn.

FROM next month, electricity charges will be at their lowest levels in four years.
Until June, when tariffs are revised again, households can expect to pay $5 to $54 less than they do now for their monthly power bills.

For homes, electricity tariffs will be 18.03 cents per kilowatt-hour, about 21 per cent less than the current quarter and the lowest rate since April 2005.

This is the second quarter in a row that tariffs have fallen.

The last spike was in October to December last year.

Households welcomed the news that electricity bills would continue to slide.

Businessman Lau Chin Loong, 45, who runs a tuition service and an education website, enjoyed a reduction of $20 to $30 in last month's bill because of the previous cut in tariffs and is looking forward to more.

'Any reduction is good news,' said Mr Lau, who lives in a five-room flat with his wife, three children and a maid. He said his business had not yet been affected by the downturn.

Another piece of good news for consumers is that electricity price fluctuations will be less volatile from July, because of a new formula that the regulators will be using to set tariffs.

Instead of basing them on the average oil price for a month, they will base them on a three-month average. This reduces the impact of any wild swings that prices go through from month to month.

$60.47? I thought it should be $35+-?

April charges should be base on january oil price which should be below $40, how come it is $60.47?
