I think at conceding defeat in election, a minister should follow it up with an official letter of resignation to the PM, who shall then appoint another minister if he's confidently ready or at least an acting minister.

Even more interesting. They are NOT MPs until the 12th Parliament sits. This includes even the incumbent MPs as they had stopped being MPs when the 11th Parliament was dissolved and are not yet MPs until the 12th Parliament is convened.

I think this is allowed under PAP laws that also allow delaying convening of new Parliament up to six months after GE (as happened after GE 2006) and on the other end of the term delaying calling GE after dissolution of Parliament up to six months. TC and MPS activities have to go on. If they disallow that, even PAP wards and residents would have problems in the interim.

Yes. They do MPs. They take over Town Councils. But they're not MPs they are MP-elects.

So far, only the newbies were having the meet the people sessions....maybe they also don't know....so their monthly allowance of $15K starts from 7 May or start from the new Parliment term?

No pay till Parliament sits. But once town council formed, they will get pay from town council.
