Of course, if they are willing to share their money now. Election is of course round the corner.
Even LSS say that there won't be quota change for foreign workers.

Anyway, they will allow more Indians to flood the PMET market.

Lao Goh is a kind hearted man!

If only people would carry out his suggestions!

Singapore is blessed to have a kind man as leadership position!

He should walk the talk by distributing his past years of salary to the lower paid civil servants. LOL.:D

Lao Goh suggests all high salaried management could share part some of their salaries with low waged workers!

Yes brilliant idea.

Whilst businessmen who risk their capital and assets distribute their wealth downstream, millionaire ministars sit idly by, talk cock and peg their salaries to high income earners.

SMRT to reward employees with vouchers, donate S$100,000 to charity

Each of the transport operator's employees will receive S$500 worth of shopping vouchers, “for their

contributions in public transport towards nation building”, says SMRT.

POSTED: 22 May 2015 16:45

SINGAPORE: SMRT announced on Thursday (May 21) at its biennial company dinner that it is awarding all its employees with S$500 worth of shopping vouchers each, “for their contributions in public transport towards nation building”. The company revealed this in a post on its Facebook page, the next day.

“This token of appreciation from the company is to thank everyone for their dedication in operating, maintaining and upgrading our rail lines, buses, taxis, facilities, and shops; and for serving our commuters, customers and each other with professionalism and pride,” the transport operator wrote.

The move recognises "train captains, station staff, bus captains, technicians, engineers and all other workers who play a part in keeping our nation moving every day", SMRT said. "Through their hard work, we run a world class transport system that is integral to Singapore's growth as a nation."

In addition, the SMRT said its management has “decided to donate their share, totaling about S$50,000, to charity” and that its board of directors will match the management’s donation from their own director fees for the year. The total amount of S$100,000 will go to “help the poor and needy, for travel vouchers on (their) public transport system”, SMRT stated.

@ SMRT

At SMRT's biennial company dinner yesterday evening
(21 May 2015), all staff were recognised for their contributions in public transport towards nation building. They received news that they will each receive $500 worth of shopping vouchers to enjoy with their family.
This token of appreciation from the company is to thank everyone for their dedication in operating, maintaining and upgrading our rail lines, buses, taxis, facilities, and shops; and for serving our commuters, customers and each other with professionalism and pride. It recognises our train captains, station staff, bus captains, technicians, engineers and all other workers who play a part in keeping our nation moving every day. Through their hard work, we run a world class transport system that is integral to Singapore's growth as a nation. Today, SMRT is a household name. It is opportune that we recognise our workers, engineers and support staff on our nation's Jubilee year.
Management has decided to donate their share, totalling about $50,000, to charity. The Board of Directors will match the donation from Management from their directors fees for the year. The total amount of about $100,000 will go to help the poor and needy, for travel vouchers on our public transport system.
At the heart of a multi-year programme to improve services and renew public transport infrastructure are our staff. Many work tirelessly behind the scenes to deliver safe and reliable train and bus services for people in Singapore.
Yesterday evening, SMRT staff were acknowledged for the milestones achieved thus far. This includes the successful completion of the NS Line re-sleepering project which results in faster and smoother travelling time, and improved reliability of the trains where withdrawal rates have improved by three fold over the past two years.
With a committed and conscientious workforce, we are determined to provide the highest quality of service to our commuters and customers.
We salute our workers and also do our part for fellow Singaporeans in need.

that means GST, electricity and diesel prices will raise very soon....

No. More taxes should be devised to distribute income to our incorruptable civil servants.

Whatever they give during the pre-election display of generosity will be taken back multiple times after the election.

I hope Sinkies are smart enough to understand this. ;)

Always understand that the pappies are consummate business people. Unless it's for a propaganda purpose (NDP, SG50), they are always super stingy, and will eventually demand their pound of flesh as repayment.

Sinkies never do. Sinkies are that stupid!

In a meritocratic society, it is illogical and downright insane to expect the well-paid to regularly cut their own salaries to help the incompetent and handicapped. Doing it occasionally for charity is fine, but doing it on a long-term basis by forced salary cuts is tantamount to taxation and penalizing people for being capable.
