An elderly woman got shoved off a bus and broke her hip as a result.

Mdm Yang Fu Meng, 84, fell from a bus last Sunday (4 Mar) at 2.35pm, just as she was alighting from bus number 32 at the junction of Victoria Street and Rochor Road.

She was just getting off the bus when the doors had suddenly closed behind her, pushing her forward onto the road.

She landed about 1 metre from the bus stop and fractured her hip.

She described the fall as "so painful that she could not get up", leaving her "panting from fright" on the ground.

The people at the bus stop who saw her fall shouted to get the attention of the bus driver, who did not seem to notice and simply drove off.

Meanwhile, a good Samaritan helped Mdm Yang to get up and off the road, and to contact her son, who called an ambulance.

Besides breaking her hip, Mdm Yang also suffered abrasions on her right elbow.

Her son has since lodged a police report and SBS Transit is investigating the incident.
