Elderly man acquitted of outrage of modesty

SINGAPORE: An elderly man has walked out of court S$1,200 poorer but a free man.
Leow Hock Soon, 62, was accused of using criminal force in order to outrage the modesty of an 18-year-old.
The incident happened in a taxi at about 11.20am along Woodlands Industrial Park E9 on 27 September 2010.
Leow was also accused of using criminal force on the girl on two occasions at the time of the offence.
But the charges have been compounded and settled out of court.
This means he was discharged amounting to an acquittal.
Leow is said to have offered the victim S$1,200 as compensation.
Anyone convicted of using criminal force with the intent to outrage modesty can be jailed up to 2 years, fined or caned, or any of the two punishments.
