Eight motorists arrested by Traffic Police for drink-driving

Published on May 1, 2015 9:11 PM

SINGAPORE - The Traffic Police arrested eight motorists for drink driving, after conducting an islandwide operation during the early hours on Friday.

In a statement on Friday, the Traffic Police said 26 drivers were stopped and tested for alcohol consumption at various locations. Seven men and one woman aged between 26 and 56 failed the test, and were arrested for drink-driving.

The highest Breath Evidential Analyser (BEA) test result was 69 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath - almost twice the prescribed legal limit of 35 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.

The Police introduced the new Mobile Breath Evidential Analyser (BEA) test centre during its annual workplan seminar last month.
